Omega-Shield™ – Aftercare Instructions
Omega-Shield Paint Protection Film Aftercare is essential to maintain the superior gloss, durability and self-healing properties of the film. Even though Omega-Shield™ is engineered to resist scratches, impacts and UV exposure, proper maintenance ensures that the film continues to perform at its best for many years. Without the right aftercare, environmental factors such as road debris, insect remains, bird droppings and harsh cleaning products can gradually reduce the film’s protective qualities.
By following the official aftercare instructions, both professional installers and car owners can guarantee a flawless finish and maximum lifespan of Omega-Shield™. Correct curing, careful washing techniques, safe cleaning of edges and the right choice of products are crucial to keeping the film crystal-clear and damage-free. This guide provides everything you need to know to protect your investment and maintain the showroom-quality look of every vehicle treated with Omega-Shield™ Paint Protection Film.
1. Important / Curing Time
After installation, Omega-Shield™ film needs time for the adhesive to cure fully. We recommend leaving the vehicle untouched for at least 48 hours. During this period, small traces of moisture or installation marks may be visible under the film – this is normal and will gradually disappear as the film settles. Temperature and environment can influence the curing time, so allow for some variation. Patience in the curing process guarantees that the Omega-Shield™ Paint Protection Film bonds perfectly for long-term durability.
Once the film is fully cured, follow these simple aftercare steps to maintain the superior finish of your Omega-Shield™ protection film.
2. Regular Maintenance
To keep the film in top condition, always remove contaminants such as insect remains, bird droppings, or tree sap as soon as possible. These organic materials are acidic and, if left for too long, can leave marks on the film in the same way they would damage untreated paint. Quick action ensures your car stays spotless and protected.
3. Washing & Drying
Wash the vehicle regularly using a pH-neutral shampoo and a soft microfiber or lambswool mitt. Always use the two-bucket method or a grit guard to avoid reapplying dirt and scratching the surface. If you use a pressure washer, keep the nozzle at least one meter away and avoid spraying directly at the film edges. Dry the car gently with a clean microfiber drying towel for the best finish.
4. Polishes & Sealants
Omega-Shield™ films are engineered with a self-healing topcoat that already provides excellent gloss and hydrophobic properties. To enhance this effect, you may use compatible synthetic sealants or ceramic detail sprays. Always test new products on a small area first to ensure they are film-safe. Avoid natural carnauba waxes, abrasives, or solvent-based products, as these can damage the surface.
5. Cleaning Edges
Dust, wax, or polish residues can sometimes collect along the edges of the film. This can easily be cleaned with a cotton swab lightly dipped in 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Always wipe away from the edge of the film rather than towards it, to prevent lifting or damaging the adhesive edge. A little care keeps the film edges crisp and invisible.
6. Things to Avoid
To maintain the integrity of Omega-Shield™, never use abrasive polishes, petroleum or solvent-based cleaners, or carnauba waxes. Avoid polishing machines at high speeds, as they can overheat and damage the film. And most importantly: never try to peel or reapply the film yourself — always contact an authorized installer for any adjustments or replacements.
